As announced earlier, ESPNews has launched its high-definition channel today at 8.00 AM ET with the networks first hour simulcast on ESPN HD and later on ESPN 2 HD and ESPN. Comcast, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable have signed carriage agreement with the channel to carry the new HD channel, but not to carry during the launch.

Verizon FiOS TV will include MavTV HD in their high-definition line-up this year. But there is no exact plan when the channel will be added into their line-up. This is according to Multichannel News. Verizon FiOS TV, now have around 30 high-definition channels in its offering and is planning to deliver 150 high-definition channels by the end of the year.

Apart from DirecTV, only few operators present the MLB Extra Innings this season. According to TVPredictions.com, Dish Network won’t broadcast MLB Extra Innings either in standard or high-definition. Cox Communications in Rhode Island and San Diego will provide high-definition version of the games. Cablevision will carry the games but have not disclosed the amount of games and which areas the games will be broadcasted.

Last year DirecTV signed seven year contract with MLB at an exclusive deal of $700 million. Crown Media will launch its new high-def Hallmark Movie Channel in Peoria, Illinois on April 2 and will include a screening of The Magic of Ordinary Days and an appearance by veteran actor Ernest Borgnine.This is According to an article by TV Week.With the scheduled launch of the channel next week, the Crown Media’s decision to launch the event in the Peoria is that the channel fares well in the market. Hallmark Movie Channel has entered a deal with Disney for movies like The Shaggy Dog, Flubber, Old Yeller, The Princess Diaries and The Santa Clause as the channel will make 30 original movies in 2008.
